The Limps were a short-lived Scottish band from Annan in South West Scotland. Guitarist Andy formed the band with Derek Watson, Norman Jardine and Tom Davidson in 1978.

Songwriter Andy was known as Andy Septic, drummer Derek was known as Dee Dee Tee, Norman was Chuck Abnormal on bass and lead singer Tom was Tam Limp.

Pooling resources with fellow band No Support they formed a record label called Matchbox Classics and released a couple of split eps.

From one of these entitled Another Matchbox Classic came…. well this classic Someone I Can Talk To which while obviously punk was at the tail end of punk and sold bugger all at the time.

The Limps moved 20 miles south to Carlisle in the hope of success as that’s where there was a punk scene. But fame never came, playing to just a handful of people each gig before splitting though they recorded some songs as a three-piece without Tam which were later released in 2020.

But Someone I Can Talk To still retains that freshness that all really great songs do and is in the vein of Don’t Ring Me Up by Protex.

And so some 40-odd years later a film director writing a script during the covid lock down accidentally discovered the song on a streaming platform and realised the song was perfect for a scene in his coming-of-age comedy film Snack Shack.
