Nice to see what this site sees as the best of the newer punk bands returning with some new releases from Lambrini Girls, The Meffs, Split Dogs and news Loose Articles are in the studio.

First up The Lambrini Girls who have been touring relentlessly since their seminal Who Let The Dogs Out album which is never off our play list.

Cult of Celebrity has just dropped on Spotify and YouTube and its classic Lambrini Girls. More accessible with its almost surf guitar coda but with that beautiful, dirty bass underpinning with a solid almost Elastica style groove. It’s the tale of selling your soul to the devil whether abuser or abused and those protecting them or scrolling to read the gossip.

“The devil’s on your shoulder with one hell of an offer”

The Meffs return with a harder denser and discordant sound on Business which is the new single and the title track of their album 11th September.

“In life you’re told to be your ‘authentic self’, but only if your ‘authentic self’ fits a mould, only if you ‘authentic self’ is on brand. We’re not hard enough but we’re not soft enough, we’re not queer enough but we’re too queer, etc. We’re okay with that; we know who we are and we know what we stand for. ‘Business’ is a love song

The Meffs are another band who have been relentlessly touring and building a grassroots following.

On the album, they say “Business is everything. It’s work, it’s war, it’s politics, it’s our health. Business is angry and ugly, it’s vulnerable and it speaks for all of us. I wanted to make an album that pins you to the wall from start to finish, and that’s what Business does.”

Bristol punk rock ‘n rollers Split Dogs are back with the first taste of their new album ‘Nice ‘N’ Rough’, due for release September 25th via Venn Records. Full news and lowdown here
