This Twisted Wreckage – Feeding Frenzy review April 25

Luke Skywalker was the former frontman, singer, guitarist with the punk/new wave pioneers Fàshiön who toured in the early 80’s with The Police, Duran Duran, U2, The B52’s, The Cramps, Joy Division, The Fall and many other seminal acts.

But enough about that, because this is 2025 and he has a new release with Ricky Humphrey as This Twisted Wreckage called Feeding Frenzy.

I have to say I wasn’t sure what this would sound like, but seeing as I’ve already played it three times since I got the review files, I’m happy to report I really like it and it’s a really enjoyable listening experience.

How would you describe the sound and music to orientate yourself? Musically think Ultravox between Foxx & Ure, early Fashion as they went more synthy, Hawkwind and a voice that sounds like a cross between Slade The Leveller and Bowie.

Subject matter – anger about a dystopian future that’s becoming real now in Trump’s US where Luke resides.

This is what Luke says after I asked him after I’d listened to it so I wasn’t too far wrong😊

This album is a direct response to the abomination that happened to our country since Trump‘s inauguration in January.

I’ve loved this country since I was a child and I’ve lived here since 1988. I am a US citizen, I pay taxes, and what is happening to our country at the moment and also to the world large is nothing short of horrific in my opinion.

So whereas this album’s lyrical content was inspired by how I feel as I sit and watch a 250 democracy crumble around me, it’s also a statement against every authoritarian regime that has ever existed in the world anywhere at any time.

This Twisted Wreckage are rocky, synthy, alternative and gothicky and with a slick production.

Picks would be Brain Worm, We Ain’t Scared, Boots In The Hall, Citizen and Foolish

I’ve only one gripe is the cover – I just don’t think it does the music within justice, but that’s IMHO – others may disagree – everything else is more than fine and dandy and well worth checking out!

The album will be released on Bandcamp on May 2, which is a full royalty Friday.
