Interviewing Captain Sensible

Home >> October Update>> Captain Sensible

Just to give you an indication that writing a book isn't just sitting there with a quill in your hand recounting jolly japes here's an example of the leg work you have to go through. Originally a friend was going to interview Captain Sensible for me after his radio show but the interview was cancelled. The following is my attempts to get an interview with the Captain. I don't give up easily. The time frames should be noted. My favourite is the one a year and a half later  that asks what interview? (lol)

It also doesn't take into account the interview supposed to take place at the Bristol gig but me bailing out when I realised the Captain was wrecked plus my attempts to email his manager the questions which also got me nowhere.

What’s the chances of you giving me about a 100 words on the Roxy Club – what you thought of it, atmosphere, people, place to play.

I’m doing a massive update on the site solely about the Roxy so would be great to get some words from you. Have loads of quotes already from other bands but no Damned. If you can help out great!

Looking forward to the Bristol gig.

Cheers

What’s the chances of a short telephone interview about the Roxy Club – what you thought of it, atmosphere, people, place to play?

Hi EB
Fair question and a very simple answer....

It's because I haven't asked him any questions and so been able to get some quotes :) That’s the reason why I was asking for a short interview.

Ok

I give up.... nearly :)

I'll try one more time for an interview before I call it a day.

The q's are below if Herr Kapitain is interested. If not just let me know so it saves me getting repetitive strain syndrome typing out these emails.

Ta very much

Paul

Hello there

I’ve asked several times for an interview over the past year but as noone had told me to get stuffed yet I thought I’d check in again and see if something could be sorted.

I’m 95% through a book about the Roxy Club London and would love to get some reflections from that time from the Captain himself who was a regular to the place both as a musician and clubgoer. The book is currently with an agent and no doubt being flogged around the usual suspects. Though I swore I’d never write a book about Punk, the Roxy was an opportunity to write something a little bit different
and give a different angle to the usual lists of bands or biographies of Sid Vicious being pumped out.

I’m really keen to do something fairly big on the site around the next Damned album to help promote it if you want it.

Lastly I’m also offering a Blah Party interview for the site. With the traffic I get and profile (featured in music monthlies, telly, radio and newspapers) this could help raise awareness of the Blah Party. However this would be serious questioning not a soapbox opportunity.

I’m open to interview by phone or in person.

Let me know what you think to the above.

Cheers

Paul

The Blah! party?

Phew.... I just done all these replies for the website today.

Yes, I'll chat regards The Roxy, but cannot remember too much. Memory jogs would help greatly...
people, incidents, etc.

cheers - CS

Or of course you may tell me to sod off.

Well.... I did say I can't remember much specific stuff about the
Roxy - that's why I've not done anything till now.

Sound of trumpets sounding, cheering in the streets and dictatorships falling.
