| Is Alan Lee Shaw going for a record
on Punk77? That's four band entries! Whatever
he touched had limited success. Had a hand in
The Maniacs, had a hand in The Rings and had a hand in The Physicals who
again, like The Maniacs, were managed by Sounds photographer Ian Dickson.
I don't remember anything special
about them except that mentioning sex in a song or title
was an instant banning which normally meant some
publicity. In this case the 33rpm single All
Sexed Up / Breakdown On Stage / No Life In The City /
You Do Me In (1978 Physical
Records) received none and got nowhere. OK sounding single with a more
than passing nod to The New York Dolls especially on All
Sexed Up
which is the pick here. And what's with Queen Victoria floating around
on the record sleeve? Alan Lee Shaw looks like Johansen on the back
cover complete with beret and his guitar work sounds like Thunders.
Band:
Alan Lee Shaw - Guitar and Vocals.
Steve Schmidt - Guitar. Christer Sol - Bass. Steve Bye - Drums.
Alan
would go onto play with Bryan James And The Brains
