London based Masterswitch were Jimmy Edwards (vocals), Stephen Wilkin (guitar), Mark Steed (bass) and Martin Lee (drums), Jimmy Edwards had been performing in bands since the late sixties, he recorded several glam-era singles under names like the Washington Flyers, Stumpy and Edwards & Guest, he also produced teen band Flintlock. In 1977 Edwards jumped aboard the punk bandwagon with his latest creation Masterswitch, though to be fair they did gig at all the right places like the Roxy, Vortex etc.

Action Replay' / 'Mass Media Meditation' (Epic, 1978) is OK, has a bit of an early powerpop feel to it, no promotion at all by Epic and no picture sleeve. Quite why they signed and released this is a mystery.

After the break up of Masterswitch, Edwards released several solo singles for Warner Bros and Polydor in an Elvis Costello / Joe Jackson style, best of these is the Jimmy Pursey produced 'Nora's Diary'. In 1983 he formed the awful Time UK with ex-Jam drummer Rick Buckler.
