Discography Part 2

Home >> Punk Bands >> The Lurkers >> Discography Part 2

I think its fair to say that The Lurkers were a classic singles band. Fulham Fallout, like Never Mind The Bollocks, basically collected those early singles and added the rest of the set list and yes is deservedly a punk classic getting to No 57 in the charts with no promotion. Gods Lonely Men is a different kettle of fish. Money was spent making it and money was spent promoting it but to my ears it just doesn't gel as an album though it has undoubted high spots. In a way I'm glad they stopped there as the direction offered by New Guitar In Town to my ears seemed dead end.

God's Lonely Men (May '79)
A good progression from
Fulham Fallout. Features Out In The Dark and Cyanide plus a  mixture of the fast (She Knows, God's Lonely Men, Room 309, Take Me Back To Babylon, Bad Times) and the slow (Non-Contender).  Worth buying.

Ok one for the completists. 4 excellent John Peel  Sessions for Radio 1.

"Our aim was to sound as live and powerful as possible so there were very few overdubs or effects, just some extra backing vocals usually." Pete Stride 1996

Also worth checking out is Punk In London which has been released on DVD. You get among everything elase Arturo waxing lyrical on life and punk in his front room with mum and dad while Top Of The Pops is on and you get a live performance of Shadow with customary stage invasion!
